I have always found it fascinating how Ted Turner helped bring back the American bison, restoring not just a species but part of the land’s natural story. He owns just under 2 million acres in Montana set aside for buffalo and wildlife. Back in 2019, after learning about his work, I felt moved to send him one of our buffalo styled tipi nightlight as a simple way to acknowledge the care and respect he showed for the land.

To my surprise, I received a thoughtful thank you letter in return.

With his passing on May 6, 2026, it feels important to share that moment and reflect on the legacy he leaves behind, one rooted in stewardship, restoration, and a deep respect for nature.
